GLOW ICE PLASTICS
« on: Dec 11, 2022, 06:56 AM »
I OCCASIONALLY CHARGE MY PLASTICS ON DARK LAKES AND DAYS. MY FRIEND CHARGES HIS JIGS ALL THE TIME HE FISHES BAIT. I GENERALLY CATCH THE SAME OR BETTER THEN HE. WE FISH CRAPPIE AT NIGHT AND WHAT LITTTLE I TRIED IT DIDNT SEEM TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE WITH THE PLASTICS TO ME. SHOULD I START CHARGING ALL THE TIME DOES IT ACTUALLY PULL FISH CLOSER THAN WHAT I CAN SEE ON THE VEX?

I fish clear lakes for the most part ...I use glow jigs quite often ...and if it rattle ..its a bonus . On dark waters I wouldnt hesitate to use glow and rattle as my standard . There is one BOW I fish that you cant get a crappie bite after dark that water is very dark and stained . If you are catching crappiies in those conditions you are doing something right . Try adding a rattling glow bait to your set up ...could be a good piece of the puzzle ...a green glow light might help as well.

WE USUALLY USE 2 LANTERNS AND IN A HR. OR SO THE PLANKTON ARE VISABLE AND THE CRAPPIE FOLLOW. WHAT DO YOU MEAN RATTLE JIGS? REALLY ONLY FISH 3 OR 4 MM TUNGSTENS. NEVER USE LIVE BAIT JUST PLASTICS

dosnt rattle but glows

also tip downs with a live minnow fished high cant be beat ...the minnow natural struggle/vibrations is tough to beat I use this set up to lure them in and seal the deal with my jigging rod ..also works well with a dead stick rod set up.

fishing high in general works at times ...especially in shallower waters ...fish can see your presentation from a long ways

The reason why I charge up the glows is how the fish bites are.  Often time I see the fish bite more aggressively.  Sometimes it's the not glow lure but rather a matted dark color lure.  You see how deeply the fish engulfed the lure.
