Good morning ER’s. Checking in at 21* and chill of 6* here at blue grass, IA.

Eddie: Gased up in Bettendorf at a Kwik trip store @ $2.63, that was next to a lock and key place sil said he got keys made for his truck 2 for $90. Young fellow there went inback checking, then told me it would be $268 for my Sonic. I said in so many words I’ll pass, continued on to get the drywall supplies, and see a Chevy dealership, stoped  there and got one keybob for $86, asking for my GM retirement price instead of the regular $149 price.

Jeff Not bad out the door for $100

Pat:  that Christmas apron for baking ???

Ask about tools to work on the chainsaw in the garage, before George headed off to work. What a pleasant surprise he tell me where to find the opener and that the heat is on.

Marv.  Bummer on the snow drifts, not fun dealing with those when it’s blowing like that out, remember no “Frost bite allowed”

Take care all got to get more drywall finishing done

Bud

Well I see gas prices around the state are any where from 2.98 to where I live at 3.74 to 3.79, that is 85 octane, and goes up from there, heard over by Yellowstone, Jackson was still around 4 dollars a gallon.  Well I seen as low as -12 this morning driving through town and -8 here at work and it is not the coldest part of the day yet, but almost right now and have not looked to see where we are sitting, the big lake like lock up some more with this weather, a bit colder than the weather predictions were calling for but figured with the snow on the ground we would get colder.  They were saying up to 40 by Friday but now they have backed all those down into the low 30's for highs so more ice building weather at hand, might have ice on the big lake a month ahead of where we were last year but right about normal for us.  The plant looked better yesterday but still not where we want to be, see what numbers are here in a minute and grab another sample.

The PM that we have for our instrument are different each time, we have 4 a year set up and depends on what cycle we are on, this one is the big one where we change major parts, break vacuum- which is a big deal as this helps with analytical and can take a week to get back to where we run normally - and then change some front end parts.  So this is 2 days instead of just an afternoon on most the other ones.  Well better get back and get to it.  Have a great Hump day everyone, the last day of November breaking over to December, where did the year go.

Good evening ,reached the mid fifties for a high temperature today. Rain if temps. drop low enough over night may see snow flurries or snow shower. I see there is a proposal to raise toll fees in NY. for E-Z pass users first increase in 14 years. if passed by legislature and signed into law by governor staring in January of 2024 there would be a 5 percent increase and another 5 percent increase in January of 2027. Since we have been talking about gas prices lately does anyone if the NY. legislature/governor has decided to extend the gas tax suspension or will we see a 15 cent rise in prices on New Years Day . started on my Christmas cards today.
Ice Wanderer nice of you to offer Eddie the pair of ski you have for his Smitty sled. Nice that you were able to get the oil change and other work done on your car for $100 dollars.  May you have see deer if you went out today.
Hunts2long may today's travel have been problem free and your wife received a good report from her doctor(s) . Also nice of you to offer Eddie a possible source for skis. please correct me if I'm wrong but I thought Lapland Lake was a croos country ski center believe most people use Alpine/down hill skis for their Smitty sleds . I'm not saying the cross country skis would not work.
Eddie may you and others see a drop in gas prices . Hopefully the transfer station has a few pairs of skis available. glad you feeling better. Did you receive my message with the contact info. for the youth ice fishing contest in Tannersville.
Wallyworld may you find all of the needed baking supplies as you prepare for the holiday baking. Good to hear NY. has a healthy deer population .
IFF may it have warmed up some out there in Iowa. Nice that you were able to get both keys made at more reasonable prices. may the dry wall work be going well for you.

Fish/hunt4ever quite the fluctuation in gas prices across Wyoming. Sounds like lakes will be making ice hopefully you will have time to get out and catch some fish. thank you for the explanation on the PM. May all the equipment function properly when finished and the problems with product quality be resolved.
Drifter-016 thank you for the 14 day temperature trend chart. I assume some smaller shallow lakes are ready for ice fishing. Any word on when the ice roads will open or are hey already open. looking forward to a Winter cabin report.
Tomturkey may your wife be having less pain lately. how is the deer hunting going for you, your son and grandson.
OldSailor -Raquettedacker may all be good with you gentlemen and your families.

Keep safe, stay healthy. Best to all fishing and hunting.

Good morning. 14* wind chill setting at 4* making ice no doubt and makes for a short visit outside for a smoke  ::)

Thinking I will wind up the drywall this morning, and head back to the farm today or tomorrow, have business to take care of there in Tennessee

Will check in later for a coffee and see what gets posted

Good Morning Bud, Morning Everyone,
 Welcome to December!  29* with West winds cranking here this am 20-30mph, gusts in the 40’s, high today of 35.

Steve..haven’t heard anything recently about the NY gas tax suspension, but my gut feeling is they will end it now that their seats are secure again…lots of money there before the EZ Pass increase kicks in.  :'(   Thank you for sharing the info on the youth ice fishing contest, will look into that.
Dave…so when is it going to get cold up there???  :roflmao:  I like it cold, but I honestly don’t know how you guys do it up there, WOW!! Thanks for sharing, will pass that forecast on to my boys today…stay warm??
FH4…some good ice making temps out your way, hope you can get out and drill some holes this weekend! Good luck with today’s mission getting the issues under control.     How are the bait sales doing?
Bud…it’s amazing gas prices are so far apart in price..not to mention car keys, yikes! Glad you got a replacement at a reasonable price.  Sounds like you put a whooping on the drywall, awesome! Safe travels back to the farm and hope Jake does well again riding shotgun.
Marv…hope the snow removal went well yesterday, bitter conditions with those winds! Glad Jo was able to work from home again and avoid the madness on the roads, excellent! Keeping the fingers crossed conditions improved if she will be traveling today…
Wally…glad to read the Christmas apron is ready to come out of hibernation, looking forward to those delectables coming out of the oven again!!
Jeff…will be looking forward to yesterday’s hunting adventure, best of luck if you’re braving the winds today!
H2…hope your wife had a good report with yesterday’s appointment…

Good weather day for making some comfort food, lol. Going to make some beef stew in the crockpot shortly as I’m out of venison at the moment…care package coming soon from my son.
Not a whole lot on today’s planner at the moment, will be checking in to see how everyone is doing…Cawfee’s on!
Have a great day all, be safe, best of luck to those fishing/hunting!

                 Good morning Bud, ER's,
It's 27* and mostly clear here on my hill. ::) The wind must have blown the clouds east.
Bud..........Safe travels if you head out today for Tennessee.
Steve........We  had almost 2" of rain here yesterday and with the warmer temperature the snow we had is gone. Also any ice that stared
on some smaller ponds is gone. I used down hill skis on the Smitty I build for my big sled, but realized I could have gotten away with a shorter
                 pair.
H2l...........Hopefull y the rain didn't cause any problems to your wife's Dr.'s appointment.
Eddie........The gas prices in NY don't jive with the rest of the country. In Vermont I saw gas for $.45 lower than here. :cookoo: :%$#!: The
skis aren't going anywhere, so when ever you think you need them, they'll be here.
Wally........Hopefully you found all the things you need for the bakery. :flex:
Marv.........Thank you for the picture of the Turkeys in your yard.  :flex: They sure can gobble up a ton of corn in a short time. :o That's a lot
of crashes in one day, I can't believe how people think they can go just as fast in snow as on dry pavement. :cookoo:
Dave........Thanks for sharing the temperature chart, your lakes must be covered with ice and getting thicker day by day.
Fish..........Hopefull y the plant gets up to par soon.
Yesterday I went out till it started to rain, I know it's a good time to hunt but I hate getting wet. I might try it again this morning.
I hope everyone has a good Thursday either at work or out. Stay safe and Healthy.

29* and light snow, windy.
The wife's appt went well, she did have to wait almost an hour to see the doctor. Rain held off until we got home. We stopped and looked a (maybe) getting a new snow blower. Mine is about on it's last leg and needs some work. Not sure if I want to put money into it or get a new one.

I see that the local gas has dropped to $3.79 a gallon.

My nephew has been working days and coming home from work and going into the woods for the last hour of the day. It paid off!

10 point. We think it scores close to 140.

We had one heck of a season my brother's son in law got an 4 point in early season, so all 4 of us got a buck. It has been a few years since that has happened.

IW, good luck in the woods, they seem to be moving.

WW, I heard the wife talking to Amber about cookies so it is getting close to that time. One of the girls on the bowling team makes about 5000 cookies, plus candy to give to people in an Adult Living that she works for. If you can't find what you need in the stores, maybe Becky will have it.

Have a good day and be well....h2l

IW...Best of luck if you make it out today  Are you sitting in a ground blind?

h2l...Congratulations to your Nephew, that's a dandy   Glad your wife's appointment went well

Hope you all have a good Thursday  Best of luck if chasing whitetails, traveling, or on some ice

Well the PM went well and the instrument ran good, but the service tech seen an issue witha board so we had to shut down early and replace so he could get on the road towards Colorado Springs before the storm hits today. Good thing we had to shut down early as the things going around for testing was going to be a long drawn out process, so now we get to start in the morning and have more time to test before going home for the day. Have a good rest of Thursday and a great start to Friday everyone.

Evening all, 27° and clouding up here.

Deer season reopened again today, went out after work until dark... saw nothing, and didn't hear a single shot. Only 3 days of our firearm season left, so it's looking like the usual annual goose egg for me  ::)

Haven't kept up on the thread in a while, so I'll have to go back and play catch up.

Good evening, windy here today (10-20 mph)  high in the low forties.  Gas prices dropped again here station I paid $3.39/gallon for 87 octane now down to $3.33 . I did see in my local newspaper that two neighboring counties will be ending their gas tax suspension so when purchasing gas there you would will pay 4 percent tax per gallon based on purchase price instead of the flat rate of 8 cents per gallon currently. I don't remember if my county (Orange ) gave a tax break.
Ice Wanderer if you went out today may you have had the chance to take a shot. The wind did not make it pleasant to be outside today. Just my humble opinion on why some people think they can drive at high speeds in snow/Winter weather. the auto markers are partly to blame they show one of their all wheel or four wheel drive models travel at high speed down a road way and give impression once either system is engaged you have no worries. Yes they do put up a disclaimer "Close course professional driver o not attempt to drive this way" but this appears briefly during the commercial often in small print.
Hunts2long good to read your wife's appointment wet well and you beat out the rain getting home. Congratulations to your nephew on getting a deer . Good year for the deer hunters in your family.  Bless your bowling teammate Becky that is a lot of work baking all those cookies plus making candy. I hope the Adult living Center's residents appreciate her efforts.
whopper Stopper may you wife's trip to and home from work have been safe and uneventful. Good to hear snow detail went well and you did not get frost bite from the winds and blowing snow.
Wallyworld may Mr.WW be restocked and safely back at hunting camp  sounds like he is in a good area may he take his second deer of the season before it ends for the year.
fish/hunt4ever Happy for you and your coworkers the PM went well may the bad board be the reason for all the problems lately and tomorrow's samples test with-in your company's quality standards. also may you have a safe trip to work checking the weather for my area saw you have two storm systems coming through Wyoming. the first has already left feet of snow in  the Cascades and Sierra-Nevada mountain ranges.
Zcm-82 may things change for you before the season ends and a deer come into range of your rifle.

stay safe keep healthy. if you are mostly on-line shopping for Christmas get it done now I've heard rumors the U.S. postal system and other package carriers will be back logged again this year. So make your purchase and get it in the mail now if your sending gifts. best to all fishing and hunting. stay alert on the newly formed ice.

The board is not the issue for the plant, but hopefully some of the tests we run tomorrow we will figure out the issue that is causing the high numbers for the product. The hard thing is it cleans up and then jumps up, the cyclic results are the cause for all the concern. Usually it will level out or escalate, this is unusual to say the least. We have retained samples we run every day that we have analyzed for a steady number to show that what we do everyday is the same.

Good morning, OG , that crud keeping you up ?  Not sure what’s going on with the Daughter, got a terrible cough.

Had TV on watching Jayhawks basketball get back on their winning ways and fell asleep.

Z do you often see deer out in the open in that area ??? Would think they are having to travel some distances for food and water.

Dang Dave hope your not having to deal with that for long.

28* and clear.

IW, I talked to 4 hunters coming out of the woods yesterday PM (2:30), they had hunted all day and seen just 2 does. They said at times it was pretty bad out there. I am sure you have the "house" ready for the wife.

Drifter, Winter comes early UP North.

WW, Good Luck to Mr. WW at deer camp. I am just glad I got lucky last week, this wouldn't be a good week to hunt with the rain/wind.

ZCM, good luck with the hunting.

Still on the fence with fixing up the old snow blower or getting a new one. I looked at the Ariens and they gave me a pretty good deal, I went to school with the owners Mother and Father, who use to own the business, they still live in town. Joe and I played baseball together. Joan and I rode the same school bus. They were both at the shop when I stopped and looked at machines.

Hope everyone has a good day and be safe....h2l

IFF - a few, but not a lot. I don't have thousands (literally) to spend on a 7 day hunting lease, though, so it's what I have to work with. This year has been really slow...not even hearing may shots. The weather has been pretty bad overall this season; very windy and quite a bit colder than usual.  The spot I am hunting now used to be better, but a treeline connecting it to a chunk of woods a couple miles away got torn out a few years ago, and that has drastically cut how many deer I've seen since.

Most of the wooded land around here has been sold off to out of state hunting clubs or outfitters. Lots from Florida and Wisconsin, but some from all over... Indiana, South Carolina, Georgia, Kentucky 🤷‍♂️ I used to have a couple better places to hunt, but they were both sold for a lot more than I could afford to pay, so this has been my only hunting plot for several years.

IW - we have a 3 day muzzleloader season here next week, runs Friday-Sunday. If I don't get one this weekend, I'll be out for ML.

masoneddie - I saw one the 2nd day of season, but way out of range. Getting one close enough for a shot out in the open like that is the real trick.... mostly just a matter of luck.

h2l - thanks, I'll need it  :roflmao:

Well been a day, the test increased the analysis on the product, now getting back to normal operation on the plant to see how that goes, been taking samples every hour or half an hour so it has been a busy day so far. Have a great Friday everyone.

Good evening sunshine with partly cloudy sky today high temperature was in the low forty and a 10 mph wind. I was off work today so took advantage of the weather to make a road trip. I purchased two of the wreathes Mentioned in last Saturday's post so this afternoon made the trip to hamlet of Claryville,NY. to place wreath on grave of a family friend . Nice area slowly seeing more development in the past 10 years a Dollar general store has opened store probably does good business as it saves area residents from making the 13 mile drive one way to village of Liberty,NY. . Weather Guessers calling for rain in my area of NY. tomorrow so will wait until Sunday to make trip to cemetery in Paramus,NJ. I believe the county Paramus is located in still has Blue laws so there should be less traffic as most stores in area malls will be closed for the day. I had the radio tuned to a local station for Sullivan county (where Claryville is located) on way home heard on 5 o'clock news  a portion of a glass cube wall at the resorts world casino in Monticello,NY. had collapsed no word on any injuries. I assume both the Newburgh and O'Neill football teams are in Syracuse and will have lite pracrtices tomorrow before their games on Sunday. O'neill's first appearance in state final game will be playing against General Brown . This will be Newburgh's third appearance in the state final game previous appearances were in 2011 and 2014. like the saying goes hopefully the third time is a charm and Newburgh wins they game. They will play against Bennett..  I also heard  NY. Met pitcher Jacob deGrom who was a free agent has signed a five year deal with the Texas Rangers.
Drifter thank you for the photos. may you recover from this bout of Covid quickly with no lingering side effects. Definitely has been a difficult year for you.
IFF may your daughter also have a quick recover from her illness. Safe travels wished to you on trip home to Tennessee may Jake be well behaved during the journey.
Old Goat well wishes extended to you also recover quickly and have no lingering effects from this bout of illness.
Ice wanderer may your wife have arrived safely home and be happy with the appearance of your house.  Best to your in getting a deer before the rifle season closes on Sunday.
Whopper Stopper hope you and the wife do not have to go any where to night with the low temperature and high winds. I assume you will be keeping the wood stove's fire burning to keep the house at a comfortable temperature. May you and your Sil have found everything in good order at the shack. Looking forward to any game camera video you post.
Hunts2long if you are getting a good deal on the new snow blower. if you repair the current snow blower you still have an older machine and have to wonder what part may break or wear out next.  Given your relationship to family who owns the Ariens dealership I don't think they will overcharge you on purchase price or any future service on the machine.
Zcm-82 may you see some deer and be able to harvest one before the season closes for rifles. it's to bad there is not more public land open to hunting in your area.
Eddie either pot roast or beef stew sound like good meals to me enjoy both and have a great time with the family on Sunday putting up your Christmas tree. gasoline prices can be hard to figure out even in so called "Normal times close to me there are two Sunoco stations about a quarter mile apart at the intersections of two different states highways and the same county road. one station has a Valero across the state highway from it and maybe up to 5 cents cheaper then the other as this station competes in price with the Valero. I also have two gulf mini markets around a half mile apart there can also be a 5 cents per gallon price difference between these two stations.
Wallyworld you take good care of Mr.WW may he return the favor of the cookies with a nice present for you under the Christmas tree . I hope the drive from your home to hunting camp is not a long one and he did not eat to many cookies during the trip.
fish/hunt4ever good to hear the plant is increasing production towards normal levels .mays all of todays samples have tested with results showing the finished product meets or exceeds the purity level standards. hopefully you will not have to work anf OT this weekend and can go ice fishing if the winter storms did not leave a foot or more of snow on local lakes.

Have a safe and good night. May everyone have a nice Saturday. best to all fishing and hunting.
 Steve

Good Morning Everyone,
Looking like some rain moving in here for most of the morning hours…37* and cloudy with a high of 51 today.

Steve…very thoughtful of you to get and place the wreath at the family friends grave.   Saw gas was still holding at $3.79 at the pump locally yesterday. Heard it mentioned on news yesterday that decrease’s in price are coming…must be that new deal Brandon struck with Venezuela, Doh!  :o
FH4…hope your day ended well at the plant, sounds like things are getting back on track!
Wally…yum, a fine looking batch of cookies for Mr.WW…odds are probably good they all didn’t make it to camp!  ;D  Best of luck to him with this weekend’s hunting!
Z…we’ll be pulling for you today if you’re on stand, best of luck!  Does your county allow you to use a muzzle loader during your regular deer season? My county here in NY was strictly always a shotgun only zone but they changed that quite a few years ago allowing muzzle loaders…which was a game changer for me. Now rifles are allowed.
H2…good luck with the decision making, sounds like the price is right on a new machine if it’s in the budget?
Jeff…will be looking forward to your report, hopefully the rain we’re expecting here will miss you or be snow up your way.
Best of luck with today’s hunting!
Marv…hope your Shack run went well, will be looking forward to your reply as well this morning!

Believe one of my sons is hunting this morning, won’t be long before I get a message he’s on stand or in his blind with the rain coming in. A few Doe tags to fill so I’m sure if the opportunity presents itself there won’t be any second guessing unless a fawn is with momma.
Spoke with the owner of a local Agway store yesterday selling Christmas trees. Very nice selection for what he had and prices were $50-75. He mentioned the increase in price was due to everything else that has gone up and his supply was very limited this year. Mentioned he was lucky to get what he got because the tree farm he has been dealing with for over 20 years had been sold and the new owner was shipping a majority of trees south to Philadelphia and a few other bigger cities….said the larger $75 trees he had were going for $150 down there..Ouch!  :woot:   Cawfee’s on…
Have a great day all, be safe, best of luck to those fishing/hunting!

We can use a muzzeloader during the last 4 days of regular firearm season, and earlier this year we finally joined the century when they passed a state law to allow some rifles. They have to be single shots or have magazine mod or plug to not hold more than one round.

The legal cartridges are mostly straight walls, with a few exceptions for very short bottlenecks. If the case is bottlenecked it has to be under 1.4"... so that narrows the field down to just a handful that also meet the requirements of being 30 cal or larger with the minimum muzzle energy requirement.

                 Good morning Eddie, Zcm, ER's,
                             It's 32* and I don't know what's it doing out. ::)
Just a quick hello, as I'm going to brave whatever the conditions are. Have a good day, I'll check in later.

34* light rain/snow mix and some wind.

IW, Good luck out there this morning,

Eddie, good luck also for your son.

Pretty sure I am going with the new snow blower. Getting my old one running it looks like at least $300 in parts that I know of, plus labor and a turn-up.

ZCM, I wasn't aware of all those laws in IL. I always enjoyed hunting our late MZ season but a few years ago they closed it due to so many deer being taken. Other hunters hammered the does.

Hope everyone has a good day and be safe....h2l

Amber and the wife got the "old" Christmas tree decorated last night. They think it is on it's last leg, I just tell them "they all start dropping needles after 15+ years".
