Storm on the way!
« on: Dec 23, 2009, 09:27 AM »
Just wondering what everyone thinks this latest storm will do to our ice conditions...
Should we hope for mostly freezing rain to knock down the snow already on the lakes?

right now it looks like from madison, north to superior the snow will be heavy. here in milwaukee we will get mostly freezing rain and rain. stay safe.

I would be hoping for rain rather than snow to be honest.  If the rain could knock out the snow pack and refreeze that would be great.

I prefer neither!   ::)  But if I had to choose I'd go with rain to knock out the snow that is around.

We are probably going to have a LOT of slush on the lake. It will slow down ice formation a lot too.. But at least it is heavy and wet snow. That doesn't insulate as well as the fluffy stuff.

I just hope we have drivable ice soon. I have shacks to get out. I definitely don't want ice like they get up in the UP!
