Rosie red minnows

Does anyone use rosie reds for walleyes?  Several bait shops are stocking them in the area.  I never used them but have talked to people who swear by them especially for trout.

Rosie-red minnows work excellent in my area for walleye. Me, and my fishin buds got 6 last night using them last night...If this tells you something, we also had reg. fat-heads out, and didn't get a flag on them. Although, I don't rule them out either. Seeing we've had lots of success using them as well. We usually let the fish tell us what they want.

rosies outproduced the regular fatheads last nite, but like salmonrebel said, let the fish dictate what they want. just keep experimenting...and you cant go wrong! I will switch when the fish switch! Rebel.

we get them in the spring, but this is usually past wally season.

Rosies are the only bait I will use for jigging, they work excellent. I caught my biggest fish this year on the jig pole tipped with a rosie red.

Rosie Reds work on Walleye, but you should try "regular" fatheads too.

Where Rosies really work is for trout.

I've had days where the trout wouldn't hit anything else.


I usually get several types of bait, it's only a couple of $$ more, and you never know when you might hit the "magical" combination that could make for a great day.

Here is a link to some info. They are basically a fathead with a lighter underbelly and a redish/orange upper. They are probably more visible to the fish than plain old fatheads, large fatheads can be very dark in color.
