For anyone interested in supporting the introduction of Burbot into the Martinsdale Reservoir, here is a link to the information page as well as the email address to share support. A simple "I am in favor of Burbot in Martinsdale" is sufficient. Comments will be accepted until 5pm on March 19, 2021. Thanks!

All for burbot there but not for taking them from elsewhere.

Why not take a few from area ponds before the internet fisherman clean them all out? Then plant them in a similar body of water to hopefully get a foothold before the same group of fisherman find out. Oh crap, It's over before it even started isn't it?

I read an article that FWP put burbot in some lakes in SW Montana to help control sucker and rough fish populations and that had good success.  I would like to see them start doing this through the state on a few lakes with no inlets or outlets.  It makes sense to me to use some native fish from our state for this, but instead they import Tigers..

Couldn’t agree more GT. Burbot are one hell of a predator and an under appreciated native species. Also one of the few fish that get more aggressive/accessible in the winter than the summer. Perfect for ice fishing. You happen to have a link to that article you mentioned?

People underestimate the predator value in them, most think they just are a bottom feeder.

Underestimate, yes. Under appreciate, definitely. Under target? Not anymore. These fish are in trouble unless things change.

I was out chasing ling with a friend/fisheries biologist last night and he intimated that that’s the direction they’re headed. And I agree, they’re one hell of a predator.
