Frozen fish question
« on: Mar 04, 2009, 02:51 PM »
My wife cleaned out our freezer and came across a missed bag of fish from feb 2008 season. The fish are totally encased in ice and been in a chest freezer since they were caught. Do you think they are still good to eat? They are still frozen but I do not see any freezer burn. Thanks Steve

If they are encased in ice, should be no problems. Enjoy your meal. Just ice fishing out of the chest freezer. ;D

Nothing wrong with those fish............As long as there in ice, no problem
Fisherman's Prayer
I pray that I may live to fish

And when it comes to my last cast,
       I then most humbly pray:
When in the Lord's great landing net
           And peacefully asleep,
That in His mercy I be Judged
              BIG ENOUGH TO KEEP.

A lot of people freeze their fish in ice. Many believe it cuts down on freezer burn. Even freezer burnt meat is good to eat - tastes dry but it is edible. Much of my fish in the freezer is from last summer. Time to use up the rest and start getting the new. Bon appetite!
