swapping drills on 1st generation clam plate
« on: Mar 01, 2021, 08:27 AM »
So my 2604 milwaukee which has been overworked turning an 7.5 kdrill is starting to fade i want to switch it out for 2804 , my understanding is that drill won't work with that plates adapter 2604 has 1/2" threaded shaft and 2804 is an 9/16 threaded does anyone know if i can switch the adapter shaft ? or should i just start over and buy all new rather kinda like this setup with no chuck to worry about it's a direct bolt on with drill dedicated to it and i like it that way . but if it's a 5 dollar fix that'd be cool

Clam only made the one adapter for the Gen 1 plates and they no longer have them in stock. you will need to buy a whole new plate.

Parts are available to retro fit ..I am basing this off the video below..which retro fitted the old/discontinued gear box ..this may not be cost/time effective..you may be able to add the new gear box ..but your set up will be S-L-O-W

This drill may fit the bill and may fit on your plate 725 in/lbs of torque ..but you should contact Milwaukee for the arbor size
