Tupper lake
« on: Feb 27, 2019, 12:06 PM »
Greetings all,

A friend and I are making the trek to Tupper Lake from Rochester the weekend of March 9th. This will be my first time targeting Pike through the ice. We are Planning to fish Raquette Pond. How has the bite been up that way? Is the perch fishing usually decent compared to Sodus/I Bay? Any tips for fishing tip ups? We are planning to run medium sized chubs on a 2/0 hook with a 12 inch 30lb Floro leader.

Thanks

John

I concur with Mr. Esox.  Don't take chances with floro.

I would fish Simon pond some of the pike out of there are ridiculous. I usually set tip ups at varying depths off the bottom and change it around if it's not working. Last time I was there I caught a 30 inch pike in 4 feet of water 2 feet off the bottom on a hunt minnow surprisingly. Definitely use a steel loader of some sort

Go there couple times a year and been going for a couple years very good chance you will get skunked but you never know. Please share some pics of how you make out. Good luck!!

was there a two weeks ago and we didn't get to many pike but we got about 20 or so. Large mouth bass were hitting though and we got about 30 over 4lbs.
