I can't wait to get out on the ice, so I have been going through some of last years Ice Fishing pictures. And found some nice pictures, which inturn makes me want to get out on the ice even more

But I thought I would start a post in which everyone could post their favorite Flag or Tip-Up photo

Incidentally I only have one tipup picture?!?! Give me till next weekend when I finally get out and I'll have a couple more, hopefully with flags!!!

Here is the only pic. I have of an actual flag. It was at the beggining of the season when I had my cheapo traps. To this day they still outfish my HL's tho!

isn't it ironic how hours of endless watching for a flag will make you finally appreciate the beauty of your surroundings?

My boys at a rare tip-up peaceful moment. They usually are beating each other up over the flag. I've come up with many plans to divide up the daily flags between them but I have yet to find the perfect solution. The every other flag (or fish) thing doesn't work.

Got any suggestions?

Bartman, I would recommend giving your kids designated tip-ups and then they just take there own flags.

You think you got it bad?Ive been jiggin in my native tank - caught 3 out 7 perch 1 out of 2 hybrid striper and 5 out of 5 georgia giant hybrid sunfish.....

yea, that doesn't even work after the 3rd fish to none, they'll been right back at racing for flag rights, heck if grown men can't even do that, what makes you think that our youth can.

Funny thing was that the whirlpool effect happened in my anchor holes for my shack too. My 8x8 blew off the blocks and total readjusted the anchors ropes. I was inside........not a fun ride!

let' em be kids and fight for the flags! they will grow out of that all too soon. we always had a mad rush for the flags when i was growing up. someone was always on the ice when we had a flag!! now we are too civilized - it's your turn, no it's your turn...If we raced/rumbled for all the flags now, I would be sore all week!! or, probably pull/strain/break something!

LBD, is that Glen Lake or St. Catherine? Mine was on Glen, nice pic by the way.

Auger, that picture came out really cool, made me stop and thing about it for a second.

I might just do that Steve. I'm used to placing the holes and tip ups in myself as I'm finicky about the set up but I thinks it's time to pass the responsibility to them. Keeps my hands warmer too.

duck doctor, reminds me of a fish had on, flag was frozen into the ice/snow. Went to check the tipups and it was spooled. Man what a tons of line out for 8 fow.
Great photo. Also goofy things happen to us all, had a friends hunt blow down silver lake towards poor ice one windy day, never seen um move soo fast. Saved the hut and vex.

Bartman, that's half the fun of tip-up fishing...getting to the flag first!! Kicking the other guys legs out if they get a few steps on you always slows them down. Sounds like you've already seen that before. Good luck with that one. Try putting them on different sides of the lake.
