Typical First Ice Mille Lacs

A couple buddies and I are hoping to to do an early ice trip to Mille Lacs the weekend of Dec 11. How likely is it that there is safe walkable ice? It seems like IDO guys are up there the first week of December almost annually.

You'll find ice on mille lacs by then, just depends on where and how much. Not an easy first ice lake to fish IMO, but I don't fish it more than 1-3 times  a year. I'm hitting upper red the weekend before.

It’s a great early ice lake but Dec 11 is real iffy.
