Roonie, yes I live in Saskatoon, next week I'll send you a msg. on taking a look at the auger. My dad is in the process of putting an 8" blade on instead of the 6" on the auger. It will be interesting to see how the 8" cuts compared to the 6".
I believe the starter is from a Nissan or Datsun. We have never used a switch before, so you need a buddy with you to hook and unhook to the battery. I have seen 1 other auger like this, it had a dimmer switch for off and on. It would be nice to have a switch to vary the speed, sometimes its a little tricky to get the hole started since the auger is always going full blast.
Your arm won't rip off if it snags or jams, the belt just starts to slip.
