Title: Zipple Bay Sleeper Shacks
Post by: woodyth on Jan 05, 2022, 10:45 AM
Hey guys!
Headed up to Zipple on Friday, staying in one of their sleeper shacks. Anyone used them before? Thoughts? What to bring? Fishing report? Never been up there before, I hear there is a Igloo on the ice.......

Thanks Woody

I was up there about 5 years ago, we did the 2 fish house option, the sleeper house in shallow water for early and late bite,, then a deeper fish house for mid day. Conveniently, the Igloo bar was on the ice road between our 2 fish houses so we had to stop in. We enjoyed our 2 day stay, fishing was a bit slow but we were there in late February

Hey Woody, how ya been? Long time no fish !  ;D  Zipple bay is a good place, good owners, according to my "up nort" buddies who stay/fish there. Not sure of their status right now'; lots of issues on a few place up there with thinner ice/heavy snow cover. Best give 'em a hoot and a long chat first......Enjoy!   :)

Stayed in a sleeper years ago. I would bring a fan to circulate air. At night the guys on the top bunk roasted and the guys on the bottom froze. Also bring something to do at night. There is NO night bite. Kind of defeats the purpose of staying on the ice. Doubt I would do it again.

Ya Woody...NON-OXY gas with a shot of stabilizer in it..Seafoam or Star-tron, what I use. Kwik-trip  has the non-oxy, it's their "recreational gas" pump. Don't confuse that with premium gas, which still has the alcohol corn squeezin's in it, and isn't necessary. ( even though the non-oxy is usually 92 octane ) It's more in price, but well worth it. And keep the tank FULL. Also just heard the ice is really jagged and rough as heck, I wouldn't venture off their plowed roads unless ya wanna rattle something to death or break it.

THat's what I'm running now. I'll get some seafoam, maybe I should use something like heet, especially in -21 temps as they are saying?

No, stay AWAY from that, Woody! Why add more iso alcohol to yer gas?? Not to mention the effects on the rubber gaskets and seats..... You should be good to go as is. Enjoy! Also might want to avoid moving gas can from a warm place out into the cold, then back to a warm place...amazing how much moisture will condense on can. Metal ones more so.
