How did you learn about Iceshanty?

I was in Bob Wards picking up maggots about 5 years ago when I was still in college. As I usually do, I struck up a convo. with a gentleman in the ice fishing section where we BS'd for about a half hour before he told me about iceshanty... don't know where I would be with out this site! Thanks to whoever you are.

Anybody have a cool story how they found out about this forum?

Actually first joined in 2007 following a link from another fishing site. Lost forget my original password and wasn't to computer savvy back then. Joined again in 2013 with a new name and password.

Well...I joined in 2007 + I grew up in the 60/70's = 

Pretty sure I just Googled "Ice fishing forums"...and here I am.

I joined in 2015 after two weeks of lurking on here. 

As I was exiting the ice at a local lake two guys just randomly told me I needed this site.  Probably could tell I was still learning (still learning this addiction every year).  Maybe it was the fish Finder with the boat battery on a 2x4 or the little kids sled I was using to haul my gear. They talked it up big and explained it would open up a whole new world of ice fishing to me.  They weren’t kidding. 

If you gents are still out there thanks a bunch whoever you guys are!  Never told me the free membership would end up costing me in the Best Ice Deals section.

I do my best lurking on this site at work 3-4 times a day at least, but somehow all the giveaways happen when I'm not on the site!  I think the moderator waits till I sign off then tells everyone else to jump on.. and in 2 minutes the thread is locked and....  a winner is pulled!   LOL!    After that I see all the congratulations and a few straggler "I'm ins"

By the way, if this site goes away, pretty sure they will take me away to the local mental hospital.

Found this site and pheasant hunting site at the same time, looking for intel and conditions reports so I don’t drive somewhere and have to suffer…kinda takes the fun out of it and is hard on the pocket book.

I wouldn't say my story is cool, but it is my story...It was around 2010 I believe when I decided to get back into ice fishing after a long hiatus...I had decided that if I was gonna do it I was gonna get a bunch of new gear...About $1100.00 later I was set to hit the ice...I had hit a local lake a couple times & talked about it at work...One day a coworker invited me to hit the ice with him & as we were fishing he was on his phone viewing this site...I inquired, he explained it & I joined as soon as I got home that evening...Been a great ride here over the years...I've learned alot & as a bonus made a couple friends...Life changes & I don't get to hit the hardwater as often, but I enjoy every minute I'm logged onto this great site...END OF STORY !!

In 2003 while ice fishing with a couple of guys, we started making fun of some of the funny sounding websites that we had heard for various things. I quipped sarcastically that there is probably a website specifically for bait buckets called " www.baitbucket.com " and we laughed. Then I checked later that day to see if that was an actual website, and iceshanty.com came up as one of the search hits.

I proceeded to check it out and joined on 1/13/2003 and the rest is history.

At the turn of the millennia and I was on about 4-5 different fish forums, or rather just lurking.  Eventually after reading through so much good information and also misinformation about so many things, I decided that I will put my 2 1/2 cents in.  And there you have it, I signed up. Ice shanty was one of the latter ones that I signed up on.
