who out there uses a old spoon to cut holes with and what is the trick to sharpening them thanks
-
Boy...It's been a long time..thank goodness. ;) Sharpen the inside of the spoon only. You can "touch" the outside edge to to keep the edge from curling. We always used a round (round and flat like a coin, but rounded edges) and that worked well. If you have a few bucks you might want to upgrade. If you want a really fast auger, I think you can get a Normark Fin-Bore III for $60-$70 or a Nils Master for $80-$90. Or if you want a cheaper upgrade, I think a Mora can be had ro $30-$40.

Brodder Salo tried to sharpen a spoon to cut ice holes but after he got done sharpening da spoon, it took him 6 weeks to cut tru tirty inchs of ice so he put da spoon avay.
Later dat mont, he forgot dat da spoon vas sharp and he tried to eat his Lutefiske soup vit it and he sliced his face ant lips like ribbons.
Sometimes Salo isn't too smart ya Knooow.
