Ice thickness at Finger Lake?
« on: Jan 05, 2008, 12:30 AM »
Taking the family fishing tomorrow and we were thinking about trying Finger Lake.  Anyone know what the ice thickness is?  We haven't really fished there, any areas that would be better to try?

Thanks!
Lorie

I saw the ford and JeepAlaska went to set up and started getting hits so fished a little and went to find a cache that had been signed by JeepAlaska earlier in the year hmmmmmm.

caught acouple nice char with tinman and watched our buddy freeze and manage to catch a stocker.

Tinman caught this one and I caught his brother but no pic's before it went back down the hole

Caught this 17 1/2" er and some little ones.  Looked for Rdrash but didn't remember what you were driving, shoulda stopped in and said hi.  Campingfool did you have the quickfish 6?  Stopped by Sportsman's and picked one of those up right after we left the lake, tired of having seperate tents, kids always want to go to the other one every couple minutes  ;D.

Mine is only a Quick Fish II. Only for two people. Room enough for me and my dog or wife...which ever one comes with me. My dog slept in the truck today...more room for me and the fish. Congrats on the new shelter.

I remember seeing a Ford a quickfish 6 and a whole bunch of people, didn't pay attention to what was where.  I will keep an eye out for you next time.  We were over off the big Island.  Looks like the little Island is pretty popular.

Nice fish guys!!  Just curious.  How much ice do you usually get way up in Alaska?

Wow, thats some ice!!   I live in Massachusetts and if we get 12" thats quite a bit.  The thickest I've ever cut thru was about 30" and that was in northern Vermont on the Canadian border.  Usually average about 15-20 inches up there unless it's warmer than usual.
