Hard water this weekend
« on: Dec 05, 2018, 01:06 PM »
My friend and I have been scouting for hard ice, but in my area, the ice is either open or thin. Does anyone know of any hard ice anywhere within an hour or two of North Andover? Thanks guys

Shoot me a PM if you want company. I have an idea on where I am headed but I'm fishing with my 6 year old so I'd doesnt matter where we end up.
I will check the ice tomorrow and make sure if its plenty of safe where I was thinking.

I just found 4in In central ma. The edges for 2ft are not to thick but I got on at a shallow beach and it was 4in immediately when you got on the white top stuff.

Just scouted some water-

Northeast MA my favorite spot had about 1” ...maybe next weekend.

North central ma I found 4” (with a tape).... edges crappy for a couple feet. I’ll give it a shot tomorrow.

Thanks for the report. Did you need a plank to get on in north central?

Negative. did a big stride to get to the thicker part. Should be less of an issue tomorrow anyways.

Got out in the Wachusett mountain area today... ice was 3-4”, a little thinner than I’d like but forecast was cold so I was a little more comfortable. 1 bass, 3 pickerel on tip ups between the two of us. Rather be pike fishing right now but my spot isn’t ready yet....good to satisfy the ice itch though !
