We went netting for whitefish today. Not exactly ice fishing but we were fishing in the ice. Finally found something that make ice fishing seem tropical.

30 MPH wind with waves. Ice and spray on the aluminum boat. I had to chip out ice to put the drain plug in.

18 degrees.

Wet, biting penetrating cold, miserable --- great fun.

Fire up the smoker! Won't be long and I'll be on the piers jigging for those tasty critters....unless the ice gets here first.

We went out to the nets - just as windy and cold as when we set it out.

Good news: we caught 3 whitefish!

Bad news: the otters were there before us and the fish were fairly used up. $:-\$

Took in the net because it was supposed to get calm and the lake actually froze over.

Unquestionably the most misery/pound of fish that I have been a part of.
