Made it out on the ice tonight (south end) we definitely made some last night but there are still sketchy dark spots.  Had 3-5" everywhere I punched and it was popping and cracking the whole time i was out there.

I hate to sound like a jerk, but I really hope all the dirt bags can pick up their garbage off the lake this year.  :%$#!:   The lake was a dump after last years tourny.

I'd love to go. Never fished Sacandaga yet, seems like it's real tough fishing it without someone else that's been there.
I always do the Northern Challenge in Tupper, hopefully next year I can get in before it's sold out  :'(

Had to run to Mayfield this morning. Very few guys out on the ice. 3/4 guys by the pub. I was in the shop yesterday. Guys are reporting 5 to 6 inches. But the guy I trust is saying that 2/3 inches of that is white ice with 2/3 of good ice under it. Matter of fact he went in this week. Only 4' of water and he made it out ok and he is a big kid. The one you going out in front of you...lol...it was 34 degrees and very wind this morning. Did see a picture of a 39' pike that was released....hunts2long

Hey guys-I've never fished Sacandaga before. I was just wondering where people park and get onto the water when it's safe. Just looking for somewhere to start-I'll try to figure it out from there- it's a huge place

The campsite at Northampton is plowed out and you can drive right down to the beach area and it is not a bad place to fish...hunts2long

Met you at Dave's last summer. How's by you?

Do they plow the Northville boat launch parking lot?
Thanks,
Neal

The do not plow the Northville launch area. North of the bridge the water is moving most of the time, so not a good place to be on the ice....hunts2long

ATV in the water about 1000 yards from sport island tonight.  It was floating but they couldn't get it out.  Lake is really dangerous on the north end once you get about 500 yards from sport.  Lots of slushy, weird looking spots.  Be careful if heading out and watch where you are walking.

Only saw three ATV's all day and they were riding together.  They were not out there long before going through.  Where did you see pictures?

North of the bridge never looked that inviting during ice season. If you do fall in you may not get out till spring. After seeing the ATV go under, caution must be taken everywere on the lake

well believe it man! i know its kinda crazy, but it has been donw in the single digits the last 2 nights and yesterday i dont think it went above freezing. only a couple days over the next five are going to be above 40* and its still going to get donw to freezing at night. we are hoping to get ours out after some scouting on tuesday. had a couple buddies cutting 4-5" from bunker hill rd about 2/3rds of the way across towards sinclair pt on monday.

That's great,To hear that its really not that bad of a thaw after all.As long as your temps drop below freezing at night you will be fine. It has taken a long time to make ice ,it will not disappear over night
