Cutbait for trout other than lake trout

I catch a lot of suckers where I fish and it just dawned on me that I should use them for Cutbait. There are no lake trout in the lake I fish but is full of rainbow, cutthroat, and brown trout. Going to give it a try sometime, anybody else ever use sucker bait for large trout other than lake trout

I've caught rainbows on sucker meat fishing for ling at night...I just don't think it's the best bait. I'm sure browns would love it! Maybe cutts too! Let us know!

I'd love some tips on sucker fishing for the summer.  Would love to do my own bait.   I caught a really nice rainbow this fall fishing sucker meat for lake trout.  Like 25".

I’ve caught big trout on just sucker meat!! I use it a lot, landed a 6 pound brown on just sucker meat. I also use it shore fishing in the spring. I do use it when jigging in the winter. Don’t get me wrong I use lots of other stuff. Plastics, rapalas, worms, mealworms. But I have caught Browns, cuttys, rainbows and lake trout on sucker meat!!

I've caught them just dead sticking night crawlers on the bottom.

If you fly fish in the warm months, they will take just about any fly pattern they see.

Yup.   I’m more of a fan of dead shiners though because they are easier to handle.... but I caught this on a 2 inch white tube tipped with a dead shiner open water.
