Black Oak Burbot
« on: Jan 23, 2021, 03:08 PM »
Any tips for burbot on Black Oak? Heard they're in there but not sure if I should use similar tactics to Lake Superior or if it's different.

I guess to start I'd just try 30-50 FOW starting at sunset, slam a glow spoon with a hunk of fish on the bottom. Unless one of you folks has experience that something else may work better?

Yeah I've heard they're in there, too! Bit far for me though. Did you target them or did they bite while you were fishing for other species?

Well, I tried that. No burbot, but a surprise laker! Hit after dark on a glow spoon with a hunk of shiner just off the bottom - thought it was the biggest burbot of my life until I got it up to the hole and it went for a couple of good runs.

Good fun, but not quite what I was hoping for!

We caught a burbot a few years ago in Barbers Bay.
