Title: Peoria IL area looking for a spot
Post by: tshoudel on Feb 05, 2019, 08:13 PM
I will be in the Peoria IL area this Friday looking to go ice fishing while I'm there but I have no idea where to go.  Seems like the park district lakes might not allow ice fishing.  Not sure where else there is public fishing allowed.  Any info would be appreciated.  I'll be at Lake Camelot for a tournament on Saturday

I believe Wildlife Prairie Park is open for ice fishing.  Please call them to be sure.  I only ice-fished it once during a tournament about five years ago. There were plenty of fish.

When you are back closer to home, hit me, and I will be happy to put you on fish on some private water.

Did you make it out Friday?  How did you fare in the tournament on Saturday?  Just curious.

I fished Lake Camelot, I got skunked, as did nearly everyone I talked to- tough bite, a few guys put up some good numbers on red worms, they were quickly surrounded by shanty city.
Lots of marks on the graphs, sometimes it would light up like a Christmas tree, but no takers on waxies, tiny plastics or even a few size 18 bead head jigs I tied up, just a couple follows and the school would move on.  Still a good time though
