Need Hawk Springs help

I am very new to ice fishing and have only gone about a half a dozen times with a friend who is a lot more experienced than me.  I want to go to Hawk Springs this Friday but neither of us have a Vex, Humminbird, etc.  Could someone just give me some advice to possibly find some eyes without one?
