thanks for the heads up ON sylvan lake iceballs,, I would like to meet you in person this season,, you are a good man..I am sure all here are great people too. Hopefully this season we have no prolong warm spells when the ice gets safe. I would meet on huntington lk . BUT GREENWOOD LK. would be a great place to gather a meet imo.

The only lake in Orange County that would have enough parking for everyone would be Glenmere Lake in Chester. I do ok there ice fishing. Bass, perch, crappie,pickeral. Its also kind of in the middle for everyone. Just I thought. Walt

Glenmere is in Florida not Chester.... Greenwood lake is another in Orange County with plenty of parking

I was up real early and seen on the weather channel 19 degrees in somerset nj ..the five day shows high of 71 degrees in somerset nj? I wonder it that means monster storm as well... suppose the rain too on Sunday.. I can't imagine the cold air and warm air will be stable.. but the cold is suppose to return after this crazy warm forecast

GUYS !!! I really do apreciate all the comments and suggestions about different lakes, but, listing 10 or 15 possible lakes is NOT going to get us a firm decision on which lake to hold our meet on. The above list of 5 lakes is enough choice for this year.....PLEASE .... if you have not voted already, please make your choice now. By January 1, I hope to begin making firm plans for this year's get-together.
There's lots to do, and not all that much time to do it.

can I change my vote? Since Sodom Reservoir seems like an unpopular choice I would vote for Lake Huntington. I voted for Sodom as a gamble anyway...

well I'm pretty sure Lake Huntington wont be ready for a few weeks- a friend of mine who lives near it told me that it just locked up and with the warm weather coming this weekend we're probably looking at mid January at the earliest for that place. If we picked a different venue we could possibly do it sooner. Sundays are the easiest for me because I work Saturday mornings and I'd really hate to miss it!

I'm available for January 11 conditions permitting.. I will meet anywhere up that way.. unfortunately I will not be available the weekend after xmas or the following weekend. just a heads up.. Also if Greenwood lk or Harriman pk is open January 11, I'm taking advantage of such outings. I know where my heart is when it comes to fish fry

DATE FOR GET-TOGETHER !!

Considering the fact that most of the weekends in February are taken up by various contests, My suggestion for our get-together is:

JANUARY 19, 2014 (Bad weather date - January 26)

Both of these dates are on a Sunday, so most people can attend.

IMPORTANT NOTE: If the lake we choose is considered unsafe on the above date(s), we may have to change lakes.

i will be fishing the nys pro/am at chattaqua that weekend so im out. i would really put it off till either febuary or the 1st weekend of march! that soon and the ice the we are seeing not may not support a GROUP of people in a near area. just my thoughts on your idea of the date. if you hold it then be careful till you know just how thick the ice is on the body of water you all end up on PERSONALLY!!! dont assume what someone else say to be true...

I will be very surprised if there's not safe ice to hold a group of people by january 19th all you need is 5 or 6 inches.........I don't think there's ever been a season where I haven't been fishing with a group of people by that date.

You all know there's a tourney on Highland Lake around Valentines Day. Just curious....how many of you are going to that event?? We usually get a good crowd and it's another excuse to hang out together and party on the ice. If we get a good group, we should plan where to meet & where we'll be fishing so we can all hang together. I'll try to get the exact date and let you all know.

The Mahogany Ridge Hunting and Fishing Clubs contest on Highland Lake will take place on Saturday February 15th, It starts at 7AM with the weigh in at 2PM. Pete always puts on a great contest! Good Friends, Food, and Beverages.... I am looking forward to it! See you there!!
