New to Syracuse Area
« on: Dec 22, 2010, 07:17 PM »
Hello,
I am new to the Syracuse area, just relocated over the summer from PA. I am looking for a few smaller bodies of water to fish, so I can introduce my children to ice fishing. I havent icefished in 10 years, so I may need a little introduction as well. South Eastern PA doesnt make ice that I wanted to stand on... Any pointers and suggestions would be most welcome.

Thanks

Anytime you want to go out let me know. I'm Always game. Sandy pond and big bay are safe bets for now. In a few weeks the finger lakes will be ready
2011 King of the pond champion. Don't hate me cause I'm great!

well, oneida is an obvious choice, but if you want smaller, pretty much any of the bays on Ontario, then SE of syracuse in madison county there are a good number of lakes (much smaller) as well (Caz, Leland, Eaton Brook, etc).  I'd say big bay of oneida if you are ok w/ the size.  lots of gills there to keep the kids happy.
If people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles
