Many ways to do that.    Just NOT the spooled line. YIKES !

Wide rubber band with a tab made on it makes for easy removal.     ;)2

Beaver Dams (wood) some I have a electrical  staple, and on others I have foam bobbers screwed to the wood

I'm using wide rubber bands also, get the hook on it wrap around the reel and find another place to wrap it around. As easy and cheap and functional as you'll find IMO.

I glue a cork to my tip ups and bury the hooks in it.

For a single hook I use inch wide velcro  strip long enough to go completely around the spool.   For big treble hooks I use a heavy rubber band.

Our tipups are likely very different from what you are using. However, there maybe a variation that might suit your needs. I'll also say because I use uncoated wire or superline leaders, there is not a memory issue. I wind everything right up on the spool, fold it up and snap the bungee over. Done....

I bought the straps that Eagle Claw make and use them, I got them at Dick's Sporting Goods, the price wasn't bad, and they work good.

Gum bands?    Are there any in those photos, Mo?

Could you show us one on a contrasting surface?

May I request a close-up?

Thanks Mo.     ;)2

Good luck.

...................

They are at the top of the tip-up.   He uses eye screws to attach the bands.  works well.

I use old 35mm film containers.  I just put the treble hook in and snap the lid shut.  You do have to cut a slot for the line, but no tangles at all.

Velcro strips. Best move I've ever made. Use to use rubber bands.

Bought a 12ft roll at Walmart. Cut them in 1ft sections. Two out of the three hooks on a treble will catch the Velcro. Then I pull tight and wrap it around once and overlap the Velcro over the hook, preventing it from tangling with others.

Dream come true.

PS. I use this on heritage Lakers. Probably would work with any stick or polar tipup
