TRR has eyes that big?? Might be worth a road trip. Is there a crappie bite this time of year?

Crappie are always biting at the tongue and yes it has some nice eyes as well as nice cats and pike. It can be very frustrating if you're trying to figure that place out. If you're making the trip try to get some solid advise before you devote yourself to the 6 hour drive

Ok, this will piss some people off, but whatever. This isn't about re-hashing the catch-and-release thread. Those that know me and those that have seen my pics and posts know that tomorrow's fish are more important than today's fish. I always say the fish are more valuable under the ice than above it. If you believe this as well, then we are good to go:). That's not to say that people can't keep some fish here and there. I love fried perch and walleye as much as anyone and smoked Georgetown Kokes  are super tasty but I won't ever be bonking a 10 pound eye or a LMB. More fish go back than ever will be kept. It's about ethics, conservation and preservation of the resource.

Mofish I hope it doesn't piss people off but maybe make them think when they are just about to kill a big spawning female maybe they should let her swim to preserve our fisheries.  I keep plenty of walleye, perch and salmon to eat throughout the year but release way more than I keep. I also will not keep a big female winter or summer unless the fish is going to die.   I hear all the time that this fish is kept for the wall but in this day and age exact replicas look better and last longer than real skin mounts. I truly believe people just have a hard time releasing fish to give someone else a thrill another day. I don't mean for this to piss people off either but it's my opinion. If more people would practice selective harvest our fisheries would be incredible. Good luck on the water everyone.

i never keep many fish as i am all about the conservation of a fishery and i believe that catching a trophy fish is great and i would like to let other people experience the fight as well so i release most all the fish that i catch

The larger trophy fish have been passing their genes for years. If guys release every fish then every water body will have poor quality fish and then everyone will complain that the fish are stunted and that there are no trophies. I'm not saying keep every fish as then there are no fish. but every waterbody is different and has to be managed differently from others. some water body's  have to have complete catch and release some have to have selective harvest and some need way more keeping then releasing. can the ranting/arguing go onto a different thread and we get back to the pictures please?
safe ice, tight lines and god bless!
