You have to put the picture on an external host site like photo bucket etc. and then link to the picture here in your post.

i'm not sure those pike would go 1lb each but those little buggers do fight like they've got demons!  congrats, good eating too once they're a little bigger...look up cleaning on youtube.

The smaller ones eat really good! I get more boneless meat off a small pike than I do off a huge perch. Not knocking perch at all, I love them but on a lake with lots of hammer handles I can get a huge meal for myself, the wife and all the kids we have at home a lot easier than I can on a lake with bunches of perch and then I only have to clean 10 pike instead of 50 - 100, 6" - 8" perch. If I take the kids though we go where there are perch because it's more fun for them to catch bunches of those in a few hours then it is for them to spend all day on the ice only catching one or two pike an hour. As far as cleaning them goes definitely try youtube there are some good videos there of how to do it. I clean them by taking off the backstrap then instead of going over the Y bones like they show on most YouTube videos I cut through them but over the ribs and then once the fillet is off the fish I remove the Y bone strip by cutting down the line in the fillet and removing everything above that because after taking off the backstrap, everything between the line in the meat and the top of the fillet is Y bones and everything below it is meat only. I can do 10 pike in 30 minutes or less and have no bones in the fillets.

send the pics on your phone to an email account and then dump them on photobucket and then post them here.

Take the fillets and place them so the tail is towards your knife hand with the skin side down (the skin should be removed as you described above).  Nest place your knife at a slight angle and cut alongside the y-bone toward the tail of the fillet, at the end of the rib cage angle your knife more into the ribs.  You should be left with one clean piece of meat and the other with the y-bones and ribs.  If the ribs are thick with meat turn those over (skin side up) and cut alongside the other side of the y-bone until you feel the rib bones, turn your knife angle and cut along the ribs removing a thin piece of meat.  I usually do not bother with this as the piece of meat is too small to mess with.

Hopes this helps, I will try to take some pics of this nest time I bring some keepers home; if you are interested in seeing them I’ll post them!

Happy fishing!!!!! :icefish:
