A buddy and I went out today and had the best day of perch fishing(catch rate - not size). I personally caught around 200 perch and my buddy caught close to 100 to 150. The biggest was 11 inches. We ended up only keeping a small number so we didn't have to fillet them for days(and the pic would have looked something like Fish to Live's pile of perch :o). I probably threw back 30 - 50 good eaters and the rest were tiny.

This is a separate day and body of water too - pic of the biggest pike I caught so far on the western side of the state - just over 5lbs. Not big but was still fun to catch

That's a fatty pike zoo angler. Too bad all the rivers are starting to melt and mudding up the lakes.
So many fish, so little time.

I took 8 five gallon buckets home from east fork derby and it took me three day to fillet.  There must have been over 2000 fish ;D.  I now have a nice freezer full of some good eating fish.  :icefish:

Bowhtr, a question if you will.
I can remove each side of a perch leaving the rib cage on the body and then remove the skin.
Now I have two nice fillets with the tiny "y-bones" or extra ribs in the meat.
I can't seem to get those out of the fillet. No technique.
Can you describe the way you clean them?

with skin still attached feel w/ your knife to the meat side of the bones and cut to the skin,  you will feel if your caught on bones, try to angle down the ribs, then fillet the skin off and your left w/ a slightly smaller bone free piece...perfect fish n chips or taco size
