Lake farilee smelt?

Is anyone having any luck on farilee for smelt? Been a few times but I can't get more then a couple each visit and didn't know if anyone was doing much better

Went out for 3 hours Saturday 2-5 and caught 2. Very slow

Seems like we had an awesome year for smelt there 3 years ago but this year and last have sucked

That's my experience too. Although 3 years ago the bite didn't pick up until February.

I'm looking to catch bigger ones. Right now I'm catching them on joes but they are small like 3-5".

I was catching them 5-6in on fairlee I consider that pretty good sized

If your looking for bigger smelt Wiloughby opens this week end, there should be enough ice off the boat ramp, or down at the south end to get on them. I have some errands to do up that way tomorrow i may take a ride to check it out.

Drove by today, most of the lake is locked up, just some open water over the deep basin in front of devils rock. North end and fishing access looked fishable, south end looked a little sketchy still. Forgot to load my auger this morning so didnt drill any test holes. Think im gonna giver her another week or so before i try to fish it ,and go chase gators on the CT river this week end instead. Im sure some brave soul will hit it this week end and give us a better report.
