Mack's - Silver Lake
« on: Jan 21, 2007, 08:59 AM »
Hasn't been anyone around Mack's for the last couple of months. At least not any of the times I stopped there. Wondering if they are set up with hours for the ice season now and what their bait situation is.

Jerry, I was by there on Saturday. It was sold and it is going to be called the perch palace or somthing like that. There is a building permit on the window and they are redoing the whole thing, it looks nice so far.

I did not get a chance to talk to anyone but they are rebuilding the shop, so I would bet they will.

Appears to be ok to park but Macks is not open-being remodeled by a new owner--that's where everyone was getting on yesterday--If no parking there-the state launch is directly across the lake has lots of parking with no charge this time of year and they keep it plowed-just leave Macks and keep making right turns to get there.

Hmmmm. The new owners had it open all summer but seemed to disappear in te late fall. They told me last spring that they would be open for the ice season. They have been working on the building with the snack bar all summer long. Hope everything is OK with them.
Next question - can you still get bait at the gas station in Castile or do I have to bring my own?

Bobby - get real. Even the NY Outdoor News quoted a local as saying Silver Lake is a "sure bet for Jumbos". When you're on the ice you gotta do more than chill out.  ;D

Ackerman's Sunoco is a great little place. Good, honest folks...
They expanded their "Tackle shop" in the back this year and are in full operation.

Mack's is still in business. I have friends that know one of the owners and I have faith that they will come through for us ice-heads. I was with Jerry when we talked to him in June.
I will stop there this afternoon and get the story.

Silver is tough but gives up some slobs. But Irodiquoit has given up more limits of 12 to 15 inch perch than any other place I have ever fished.

just trying to whack a couple of walleyes

Bobby, Gonna do Silver for gills and maybe see about Perch. I'm sure Mike will be around. I just emailed Garboyl to see if he wants to make the trip. We're gonna try to park at Mac's.
Come on - start off with a challenge on Silver. ;D

Ackerman's is open as usual.  ;D
They are currently out of spikes, but have mousies and waxworms.
Their minnow selection is also somewhat limited at this time.
(That will change very shortly.)

Mack's was NOT open at 2PM.
I don't know the story yet, so I'm not going to say anything...

Doing good man, how the hell are you?
What the hell is in Catt Cnty?
Fishing is great up this way, plenty of ice to be had... I am slowly working my way lake to lake!
I want to try to cover as many locations as i can this year at least once.
Some I will be back to several times like Lake NoFish...lol  (gotta know how to fish it my friend! ;) )

Honeoye Saturday and not positive for Sunday yet... likely it will be Long Pond though!
