Title: Public Ice fishing spots near Rockford...where are they
Post by: CheapTrix on Nov 20, 2012, 04:14 PM: Other than Pierce & Olson Lakes, where are some decent public ice fishing spots near/in Rockford, IL? It seems that there are a ton of private ponds, but not too many public spots. Any help is appreciated.

Post by: toadhunter2 on Nov 20, 2012, 05:50 PM: well you have four lakes out of on rt70 west of rockford and spencer park lakes in belvidere also last year I seen people fishing the ponds on orth rd by gensler gardens there on the north and south side of orth east of argyle rd

Post by: CheapTrix on Nov 25, 2012, 09:10 PM: Thanks guys......all of these mentioned I have either heard of or tried. I was hoping there was something else I have not heard of. BTW, the ponds off of Orth are not public and ice fishing is not allowed.....already checked into this one.

Post by: boder on Dec 14, 2012, 05:03 PM: Any of you guys ever go out to lake victoria in south beloit? its real close by my house but i have never fished it. do guys fish this lake? i take the dog to the park there quite often but hardly ever see anybody fishing. any info would be appreciated.

Post by: guy on Dec 31, 2012, 01:50 PM: went to lake olson yesterday - fished 10 fow near dam - 30 gill & one crappie, all small. ice was 3 to 3 1/2 inches and crystal clear.
