Tarryall on Saturday, 9 Jan 2010
« on: Jan 07, 2010, 11:56 AM »
Well I'm going to avoid the madness at 11 Mile and head over to Tarryall on Saturday with my newbie buddy.  I figure we could get some trout action and maybe even pick up a pike.  Has anyone fished there this year and have any report on the water clarity?  Usually it's very murky.

Ended up going to Gross Reservoir with Fly Chucker.  Gross was in bad shape with 3" of sketchy ice at best.  Kind of weird for being at 8500' with temps hovering near zero most nights to only have 3 inches.  I thought that we were going to see Pierce Brosnan show up with some Dantes Peak geothermal action at any time!   ;D

We ended up driving back to Bear Creek and just relaxed on the ice for the afternoon.  We had a slimer throwdown between us (a la Booby Flay).  Fly Chucker ended up winning the day.

The fish in tarryal seem to be skinny and starving. Most of the recent stockers looked o.k. but the bigger fish were crazy skinny.  :-\
