Too Much Wind?
« on: Jan 15, 2012, 01:08 PM »
Anybody get out on the ice today? More power to you if you braved these winds.

I was aiming for Utah Lake and when I woke up at 5:30 they were having sustained 20-25 mph winds in Provo with gusts to nearly 60 mph! My house here in Sandy is still shuddering every once in a while.

50* F and 50 mph gusts = watching football for me.  :-\

Wind?  What wind?  Hardly a breath of wind here in Southern Utah County.  You shoulda seen Fish Lake on Friday.  My nine year old had to lie down on the ice and hang on to the sled that we had anchored to keep it from blowing away.  A bucket of rods and rod holders went for a 50 yard skating trip.  A JawJacker and rod took off on a 50 yard trip.  And my oldest son went on a 300 yard jaunt to retrieve his hat.

I was on Mantua this morning. There was a slight breeze when I arrived about 7:30 and I would estimate sustained at 25 mph when I left at 11:30. Didn't hurt the fishing though, still doing really well there.
