Catys are definitely still around.  I've bought them off and on this summer, and I saw blister packs of Catys at Bass Pro last Saturday.

HOLY Bobberstop,

That is a very impressive.  I have a question or two about them.
Are they lead or tungsten?
Do you use without bait?
How do you fish them, with additional weight or what?
I like the colors and styles, but I've never tried Brassies for gills.

Phisherphil, the painted ones are lead heads the others are brass beads lead filled. i do use spikes with em. No additional weight, but i use 1# mono on an ultralite rod.

Bobberstop,
I have several icefishing friends from the fort Wayne area that use a #14-16 flyhook wrapped with lead wire and painted different colors that just flat out catch fish.  NO BAIT either, just a slow soft jigging or waggling action.  One of the guys uses a long rod(36+) and the other uses shorter with spring bobber.  I have a long noodle rod and just can't get the rhythm/timing right to consistently catch fish when the bite is off.
I've tried a flyhook with a tungsten bead up against the eye and wrapped with dubbing of different colors, fished NO BAIT.  I've not tried using the 1# line though, just 2# with fluorocarbon lead to the hook.
Something new to experiment with, next time I wet a line.  I've been using a lot of Little-Atom plastics in the last few years and they really surprised me how well the fish liked them.  Wedgees and Nuggies are my favorites.

Thanks for the info,

Phil

Bobberstop,
Love how those brassies look.  I tied some this spring but never got them wet.  Now I'll have to move them to the box of ice jigs.  Thanks for the idea!

Cool looking jigs everyone.
It's always neat to catch fish on jigs on you made yourself. I have had good luck on a jig with a grub body and peacock eye feather for the tail, until a fish pulled the feathers out, now I have to get another 2 eye feathers, that ain't hard, I have a male peacock. ;D

The ones I circled are all Flyer jigs right? Get them in pink and white (glow and the dark) and try them on rainbows and brookies. Man they kick some serious behind! Good looking collection!

Bobberstop - what are the sizes of those jigs you just posted?  They look really good.  Could you sometime take a photo of them with a penny or a dime to compare sizes? Thanks.
