last nights crappies

  went out for some crappies yesterday afternoon and stayed till 4 am .took my son out for his first night crappie trip and he caught the big fish of the day a 19.5 inch small mouth bass  shortly after we started fishing. caught well over 100 crappies myself in the 8 to 12 inch range -nothing huge but a lot of fun .the fish never stopped biting all night  i think the kids hooked on night fishing now

thanks cf ,  with the lack of safe ice on the big lake cant get out after those jumbo perch this year  but i dont mind now that the night time crappie fishings heating up. hoping to  finally get an 18 incher this year-heard of a few 17's caught already.another 4 months before cat season here

 nice to finally be able to take my boy out on the ice with me,his moms a bit over protective so this is his first year out with me. glad i was able to get him into some decent fish-he cant wait to back out on the ice

last nights crappies turned into last nights bluegills this weekend.fished from sunset till 4am and only managed a few keeper size crappies out of the 30 i landed.
good thing the big bluegills were biting -got into some real nice ones on minnows .
