Lone Star ice??
« on: Jan 09, 2018, 03:55 PM »
Just checking in to see if anyone has cut any holes at Lone Star or Willard yet.  Planning on going down Saturday to check it out.

I was there on 12/31 - Ice was 6-7".  Fishing was slow
Never test the depth of the water with both feet.

Ice was 10" last Friday.  Fishing was as slow as slow gets.  Talked to a couple other groups who were saying the same thing.  Drilled a lot of holes and didn't mark many fish.

Thanks for the info, I'll let you know if the bite picks up or not this weekend.

I fished Willard Meyer on Sat. 1-6-18 and found a solid 10"+ of ice, some ice was milky, but good and found some of the clearest ice I have ever seen. Caught lots of gills 7-8" from 3-5 and lots of crappie after the sun went down.

Sounds promising! Nice job!! We went to Lone Star last weekend and again this weekend.  One gill in that 3 degree weather and not even a bite today in four hours with 9 holes going.  Still good ice, 7-10 inches in spots.  Using waxy's but just tuff to get any action.  Very nice weather on the ice today however.
Hurl..
