Storing Flasher

Should I disconnect the battery? Leave it attached to the charger? Just finished my first season with the flasher and I don't plan on having it out again until ice up, but I don't want to wreck it in the off season either.

wouldn't hurt to disconnect it, but you do want to top charge once a month or so.

I used to do the calendar thing. Just to make sure i would maintain my battery's. Then i bought the Vexilar V-410. Hook it up and forget about it.

I leave my vex's on float charger all year, my buddy tried doing the month ting, forgot two months and had a dead battery. So I'm a let it float and ride, keeps the battery at maximum charge and the chargers don't draw a lot so why not :-)

I disconect everything, recharge the battery and put everything in a dry bucket with a top for safe keeping. Once or twice during the off season I put it on the charger but it's usually back off in a few minutes.

I just charge my flashers before putting them away. Then I charge them on Memorial Day weekend, and Labor Day weekend.

I unhook and charge at the end of the season , then once during the year , and I get between 5-6 years on a battery , I've been doing this for more years than I wish to admit ,

I usually pull the negative and charge 2-3 time during the off season with my sonar and camera
