13 Pound Pike ( Video )!

you guys tell me what you think.. caught him on 30lb tipup line, 12" 30lb steel leader with a double treble setup.. on a extra heavy 6" shiner.. 2 scales confirmed 13..

Haha, yeah I know. But my buddy stuck it back pretty far and there wasnt any way that it was gunna come up.

Just need to slow down grasshopper, they are hard to release if you want to with a big hole in them! nice vid...

Yeah true that ha. But we drove a ways and it was only my second pike ever, and noticed it was a big one so there was no doubt that he was coming home with us  ;D

closer to 7-8 lbs.

2 scaled confirmed it.. 13 lbs.. and ive gotten two seven pounders over the past few weeks and those were 30" and 30.5.. just think the one I Caught was 36"..

Why did you bring it home?  To eat it?  To get it mounted?  Just curious because you said there was no doubt it was coming home with you.


Also I am a little confused.  You said it was only your second pike then in your next post you say you caught two 7 lbers  over the past few weeks and this one??

I meant to say wasn't.. So I took him home and yes took every little bit of meet off him that I could.. And yes the 13 lb pike was my 2nd one ever.. As since then (2-2) I've been a couple times and caughten a bunch since then

Why cant you just let the guy enjoy the moment of catching a nice pike! What business is it of anyone else if he ate it or not! Congrats on a nice fish! Doesn't matter if it was your first or 300th it's a nice damn fish!!!!

i am not sure who you have this aimed at ,but if its at me I just told him to slow down a little and gaff them in the beak then he could release it if he wanted , I could careless if he keeps all he catches or release them all ,I was joking with him about sticking his arm down the hole after he gaffed it, period....

Again... nice fish.. too bad it took a video to prove to the negative naggers your fish was in the double digits.

I think you need to buy a bigger auger though if your gonna start targeting big pike  ;D

As the guy who gaffed it, yeah i stuck her a lil far back, but the second hook on the quickstrike had got caught on the fish's side so it came up sideways, and with its head out of sight, i took the shot i had, as i didnt wanna see Ty loose the biggest pike I've ever seen...Love watching the videos man, keep em comin'!

I love pike that size to eat,,there are several you-tube vidoes showing how to filet one and have NO bones in the filets,,,It's my favorite next to perch

Pike is definitely my favorite freshwater fish to eat. the only things that come close are pickerel, and mabey smelt, but i havent had enough smelt to really get a feel for em.
