2012-2013 Preperations...
« on: Jul 28, 2012, 05:47 AM »
Anyone start getting their stuff together? I am working on an ice sled. The shanty addition is next. Need to turn a 4X8 into a 6X8 on the 4X8 base, like the kind that slides into a pickup bed with built in seats sticking out...

I never put it away! I use a lot of the terminal tackle throughout the summer and the fishing rods work great for tight spots on lakes and obviously brook fishing. Flashers have their place in the summer months too when you are attacking structure from above.

I am thinking of doing the flasher thing but have never seen one used so I am skeptical to dump the cash into it.

I put together an early season, shallow water, run and gun system.

I have an old wooden toybox that I pulled out a neighbors burn pile and intend to put some skis under it and morph it into a new fishing box for tip ups and all my gear. Have not done anything to it yet, just been ciphering and kicking around ideas.

You won't regret it! The only time I don't use it is when I am sight fishing.

Scored on a brand new Tanaka power head on eBay... $250.00. Gunna spend the rest of the summer deciding if I want to sell my Jiffy!

Do it, it will change how you fish I mean I still like to hang out in the permanent and even use mine in there but it will blow your mind if you are hunting for fish and will always tell you just where everything is down there is

Get yourself a Marcum VX1 Pro.  They go for around 250-300.  I have the older VX-1 model and love it.  Use it for lakers in 100-120 fow or perch in 1-15 fow.

I'm working on attaching a very nice fiberglass box to a pair of skis.
Still deciding on if I should drill & tap, or use some kind of epoxy or something to bond the two together.
I wish I could afford a flasher and a power auger...will still be using the hand auger and backpack shanty this season.
Hope to get a heater for this season.

Havn't bought a flasher yet but I sold my old shanty instead of converting it. I am now 75% done with converting a pop up camper to a shanty. I need to find some windows and insulate, then I am done!

Haven't done anything yet, but have been thinking about it.  Need to check over all my tipups, and fix what needs fix'n.  Going to pick up some more lures for jigging northerns, along with another heavy action rod.  Had a blast last year watching them slam lures on camera!  Buy a new hand auger...  Also need to build up one corner of my jet sled with the plastic welder, b/c she is getting a little thin.  Probably should buy a runner kit for it...

Painted my traps today. Having moved 4 times in two years, I have had to change my information on my traps to the point of where they looked like they had been graffiti'd  ::)
Decided to do them Yellow with black flags and they came out pretty nice.  :)

Changed all my hooks and went to walmart to pick up a few pieces of terminal tackle for the box. Charging my underwater camera battery as I write. Got many things done today in preparation for the season
This is why I left NY
