Rensselaer County Ice
« on: Dec 08, 2005, 12:38 PM »
Hey Guys,
Last monday morning I had to go to a fire call in steventown it was 12 degs. out and there was ice forming on Crooked Lake. I haven't been by it the last couple of days but the temps. have been good for the ice machine to work.Any news from anyone? The snow tonight won't help so I was hoping it was off to a good start. Chief

NYS Park Police can be a bit of a pain in Grafton.  They are afraid of someone going in and sueing the state.  I've had them tell me up there it wasn't safe when there was 5 inches of ice on Long Pond.

If you go in the back of Long pond, they tend to leave you alone.  That has been my experience.

After work last night I drove around a few lakes. Glass lake was still open, Crooked lake was capped over and Burden lake was capped as well. This snow won't help but next week the temp. is going to stay down.Chief
