Topo maps and finding lakers
« on: Jan 10, 2023, 07:23 AM »
When looking at topo maps, what areas should a guy focus on for lakers the most? Deep, points, steep drops, etc?? Here is a topo map of a local lake. What areas do you guys think warrant checking out/hold lakers? Thanks all!!!!

I never bought into the "lakers are piled up in the deepest hole" idea. Sure, I see guys jigging them up from 100' of water. But I get all I want fishing 8-18' when they come into the shallows to feed. Nice gradual leveling off areas. I'd look into the area on your map in the lower right-hand corner. Set the traps at various depths along those leveling off areas and spend the day jigging and studying the results.
I wish I was in heaven sittin down..........on a 5 gallon pail!
