My buddy and I put our 2 personal best Salmon on the ice the other day. 28” but didn’t get a weight on them. We got them 30 minutes apart. Mine snapped me off on a different tip up as I found my other hook in her mouth. I am getting a replica mount of my fish.

Haha bring whatever lucky charm you had with you last time. I still cant get over those haha. I know 5 guys who where out there from dark to dark yesterday literally where you set up and they got nothing but perch alllllll day.

Ill be going elsewhere tomorrow, know a guy out there all day today. nothing but perch and the ice is getting sketchy. Plenty of other water bodies in the area with nearly twice the ice. As much as i would love to get one of those id rather go slam numbers than waste a day away with my fingers crossed.

I catch a lot of browns on Ontario and a fair number of Atlantics on Cayuga and they sure look like browns to me

100 % salmon. the hatchery is 15 minutes away and they release the old breeders in there when they dont produce enough eggs to keep in the breeding cycle. We have this debate with a million ppl every year when they post their fish pics. I was there when they caught these fish and showed them the Vomerine teeth on roof of mouth and how to know the difference.

These fish only had the single row not the double the brown trout have.

They actually had a small brown on the ice and i was actually able to show them the difference. These fish where stocked this big and did not live here long.

Real nice fish! Salmon all the way, not even a discussion! I got a 28 incher 2 years back on 7th and put it on the wall. Weighed 10.5 pounds looked identical to your fish.

One thing of note is the eggs on the ice in the top picture. As soon as I pulled mine up out of the water, eggs started coming out. I highly doubt any brown trout will have eggs coming out of it once you put it on the ice.

Not debating anyone's opinions here but on the eggs comment, I caught a rainbow that was full of eggs a couple weeks ago. Having a family member in town who is a fisheries biologist, she explained how ita not uncommon for stocked fish not the release their eggs and you find them over ripe. She said to look for "bullseyes" (like yolks) and that's a sign that they are over ripe- also means that they weren't going to spawn.
