Irondequoit bay Big perch.  Fish deep water 30 - 50 feet.  Russell Station - some steelies and the occasional brown.

willbilly,

I have already tried that.  I have done a ton of work on my boat.  Last time I tried that last year, we got hammered with snow and cold.

I got a 115 four stroke that doesn't have to be winterized! It's just that ir I take the winter cover off I will have to store it inside! Maybe it's time to look for smaller allumiman for the winter months! Something I can flip upside down.

A smaller aluminum for the winter moths is a great idea.  Now you have me wanting to spend more money on outdoor activities guess I'm not painting the inside of the house now..  Thanks.

I have heard that Hemlock and Canidice are giving up laker's from the shore, but haven't been there to check it out myself.  ;D

Any body been to the boat launch at the south end of Canandagua. Is it open?
Thanks,
Dave

My hubby and his buddy, Big Scott, caught about 50 pounders this morning on large niagaras and small spottails in less than three hours fishing the north side of long pond.   Cranberry sucks.

There are active browns along the LO shoreline already.  One of my sources landed one and lost another casting off the pier yesterday.  He also saw a huge laker trying to shake a lamprey off of its side. The brown that he landed also had a big lamprey scar on its side.   >:(

long pond and now cranberry pond are producing lots of big perch for almost everyone fishing the last few days in the morning till about  11 and then again about 4 pm till after dark.      have seen some real nice buckets filled with 10 + inch perch.  the hardest part to catching them has been finding parking at long pond where i counted over 40 cars yesterday.  this wind will definitely thin that out today and i bet it is skimming by tues morning at the latest.

Fished long pond yesterday, got a few nice perch, had to weed though a ton of dinks though. Cranberry had a skin of ice on it all ready, enough that the sea gulls were standing on it. Long pond was open and being fished by many.

There were a ton of guys out there Saturday morning, but the fishing was slow.  I only got a few, as did most guys I talked to.  I heard that action was pretty good Thursday and Friday, but it changed for the worse Saturday.  I was fishing next to guys who did well the previous two days, and they weren't doing much better than me, except for one guy who had about ten.

I headed over to Cranberry late in the morning when the ice melted off.  Got a few, but all small.

jmiskey, what time did you leave? We were out in the boat. Had a ton of dinks, 60+, we had to weed though them, but we did get some nice keepers. Seemed like a weird day out there it was slow for us until just before noon then it was crazy, we ran out of bait. Hopefully my pic shows up, first attempt at a pic.

Heres the days keepers

656, I was there too on saturday. Were you the guys out in the small "bass boat" with the electric tro;lling motor? The boat that I didn't see any numbers or registration sticker on?

I left at around 11:00.  I had to do some painting around the house.  Did the action pick up for the guys on shore also?

Eye, Yeah thats was us out there. I don't think you need a reg.. for that boat. In 6 years haven't had a problem yet.

Jmiskey, Talked to a few guys at shore they had a few fish, like 6-8 but they were big fish, there smallest was bigger then are largest.

Yeah, from what I heard, it wasn't nearly as good as it was on Thursday and Friday.

Hopefully, we'll get some hardwater soon.  I'm much better at catching perch ice fishing than I am fishing from shore.

656, that's good to know. I believe that technically any boat with any kind of gas or electric propulsuion is required to be registered. That's the reason I haven't put my 12 footer in this winter, it's not registered yet and I don't want to row all over. I bet if I do it just once, I'll get the ticket.

MXfisher, Eyedoctor,

Just to keep you from getting a ticket in the future, I believe the minute you put a motor on a vessel, no matter the size, you need a registration for it.  Even a trolling motor.  I know someone who got a ticket for his darn canoe because it was unregistered and he was using an electric trolling motor to propell it.  He ended up fighting it in court and I forget the outcome.  I think most authorities would overlook it if it is a very small boat, but you come across one in a 'mood' and you can be issued a ticket.

If the fish are biting then it would be worth the risk of a ticket or two!!!  ;D ;D ;D ;D

The boat does need to be registered and you need to be wearing a PFD any time your under power. :cookoo: :%$#!:  I think it's a load of crap myself!!!

Gumpy, that's exactly what I thought and why I haven't taken the little boat out yet.

Kirkwooders, you do not need to be wearing a pfd, just have one for each person in the boat and a throwable, such as  cushion , ring etc
