Braddocks bay
« on: Feb 09, 2013, 10:48 AM »
I fish Braddocks Bay quite often , but the fish aren't there any more .  Is it possible to fish it out? I personally catch and release my pike, but i see people keeping everything !!!

Make one more Post and you can get on the NY Reports & Conditions board. Doubt you can fish Braddacks out as it is connected to all of Lake Ontario. But with the low water this year it a tough sell!! Fish will still come in there but not enough water to hold them for long. Good luck...

Thanks I agree with the water level issue. I saw a huge sandbar across the mouth of the bay before  the ice formed. I don't know the migration pattern of the northerns. How often do they come and go from the main lake? Is it possible the mouth is shut off from the ice ?

Yeah no doubt there's far fewer fish in there this year, last years high water temps, low water levels and the sandbar at the mouth have conspired to make this place almost a waste of time. :-\

ice rogue the perch fishing can be good sometimes when they move in from the lake. alot of guys tip up fish for pike. the bay is pretty shallow most areas 3 to 5 foot. if u take the parkway west get off at east manitou rd make a right and head north about a quater mile on the left you will see a sign for braddocks bay marina pull in there on your left is parking and you will see the bay easy to walk out most guys go out to the end of the docks to start. good luck

Was out today.  Guys were getting perch out near the first point.   Pike bite wasnt there.  Managed one large mouth jigging.  Water was a bit dirty  Ice was solid out past docks... 4-6 inches.  But follow paths by shore... Its 1-3 inches before the end of the docks.

Yes you will see the tracks of where everyone was walking on.  Best bet is there's a loop when you first get in where people park and go out that way.  You will see some holes where people drilled checking along the way as well

Fished for a few hours this morning. I have never fished water this shallow, but it seemed to be alright. Caught 7 perch (4 keepers). Oh, and if you catch a medium sized northern with a glow buckshot spoon in his mouth, tell him I  want it back. Lol. Water was very murky, almost red! The fish I caught were coming off the bottom but not hitting until mid water column.

TKS! It was a blast. Got to bring my girlfriend out and teach her a lot. She doesn't much care for jigging but loves chasing flags. We had 8 tip-ups out, rigged with fat heads and a little gold spinner bout 6in above the bait. And I was jigging withll a little glow slender spoon tipped with a minnow head.
