I don't know about everyone else but the way our mn weather has been I'm ready for summer. It's been so damn cold out lately it's hard to fish. One of our worst winters in a while for cold temps. Can't wait to ice fish in March when it's nice out. I don't know about global warming but were sure not experiencing it.

We've had a lot of negative temp days in my neck of the woods too. But I'm not complaining. It's the wind that is driving me crazy.

Nope. From all the extra snow and cold, we'll have a late Spring...then the rains, which means we'll be flooded, muddied up rivers and lakes, and hope to gawd we don't have a wet Spring...
I'll take Winter and just wait 'til it warms up a little.

Being im in Buffalo NY i am ecstatic to be drilling thru a foot of ice. The past few seasons were deplorable, all better now

I feel you, I can't wait til it is nice out. Nothing beats sitting out on the lake without a shack and catching fish!

I am complaining because I only get to fish for a few hours weekly.  The rest of the time, I'm battling traffic, blowing off the driveway, and taking care of young children.  If I got to fish more, I'd have nothing to complain about.  The temps don't bother me if I'm in the ice shack.  Nothing does!

I'm in the "this is awful" camp. I think anything more than a foot of ice is a waste. Fishing is not as much fun when you need to battle the elements like this.

CBS News report tonight that the Minnesota moose population is dying off because the temperatures are 4 degrees below average and that make the moose easier for the wolves to kill.  LMAO   Maybe you have too many wolves like we do. No more elk around here..

 hmmm five yrs ago they were telling us the moose were dying from "heat stress" due to above average temps

I've never seen a moose in mn and I've been all around mn. I've been a highway painter for four years staying in hotels weekly. If we had a high rate of moose I'd be worried, but since nobody talks about them because nobody really sees  them around I don't know what to say about this. But thanks for sharing. I should keep up witht the outdoor news more.

Nope.  50" of ice and getting thicker  .  Be ice fishing in April and maybe, just maybe be able to open the "softwater" season on the ice in May.  That would be a first for me.

I ice fished on opening fishing in 2013. I ice fished on thanksgiving weekend in 2013. The way this winter is going I might be ice fishing on opening fishing in 2014. That is a long time to have ice on the lakes.

A long sleeve shirt will keep the mosquitoes off, 5 long sleeve cant keep you warm in this crap! You'll be using your ice buggy on Mille Lacs in June!
