Is it mid-winter yet?
« on: Jan 27, 2005, 08:54 AM »
I haven't been out in a couple of weeks now  :( but after this extreme cold weather over the past few weeks, Im thinking that it might be time to consider mid-season/winter pike locations?  I'm hoping someone can help me out with this.  Im heading out all day Sat. and a little push in the right direction could be the difference between fish and frostbite..... :)

Yeah it's midwinter. We have about a month and a half left of good ice fishing. Man it's been unseasonably warm, so some lakes I didn't get to fish this year. But the fishing has been great this year.

Do you guys often switch from shallower areas to deeper flats or rock? I have been having my sucess this year in about 14 - 20 feet of water. There is a large, deep flat nearby in the high 30 foot range. Should I set a tip up there too?

During mid-season i like to pull my spread out from shore a bit and work the deep edges especially in and around points.  That doesn't mean I don't have a couple set up shallow also.... ;)

What! We've had like -15 every morning for the last month! It's actually getting almost close to being close to being too cold! :P
