motorizing an auger

hi guys want to know if you can just buy a gas powered motor and attach it to a hand auger cause I need an auger I can use without a battery as well for those places you just can't get to by vehicle and the ice is to thick for hand balmbing  any Ideas would be helpfull thanx

O.K. here's what I was thinkin.  You know those lumberjack challanges with the "hot saws"  ( chainsaw's with motocross engines and snowmobile engines ) ya you know were I'm going with this one.

Just think, a 80 hp ice auger spinning at 10,000 rpm,  4' of ice in 2.79 seconds

I WANT ONE ;D ;D ;D

Sure would hate to get it jammed though.  OUCH!!!

you need to put a car battery on a sled and pull it.
Or find a used auger.
option no. 2  run a gas mower on nitro and when the motor blowes and it will!!!!! just fish in the hole that is blowen  in the ice!!!!!
