Places to fish near Saratoga?
« on: Jan 05, 2006, 06:51 PM »
Can anyone give me some advise where the best places to fish are around Saratoga?  I don't mind driving is the chance of catching fish is better than remote!

Should you know any good spots that have produced in the past that you don't mind sharing that are not too far from Saratoga I would love to know about them.

All the best!

Round Lake, Ballston Lake, Lake Lonely & of coarse Saratoga lake. I have heard that people have been doing well on Saratoga lake. I personally have never had any luck on Round on the ice. I have only fished Ballston Lake in the summer. Good luck

Where are all these places that people keep referring to i.e. queechy, quakar, sandy, 7th lake etc etc.

Any help will be appreciated?  Are there any lakes in the southern adarondaks worthy of ice fishing ???

I would go to the DEC web site and/or get topo map which will have all the lake. I am not sure where any of the lakes are. As far as southern Adk lake are concerned what do you want to catch??  ???Trout Lake, Glen Lake & Lake Luzerne are all close.

Your local walmart carries A map guide book Called:

         Sportsmans Connection
Central & Southeastern Adirondacks

It covers Fulton, Hamilton, Saratoga, Warren & Washington Counties

It has Maps, Fish stocking info, GPS grids & fishing Hints.

They make them for all over, very helpful  :D

If you go up to Trout Lake, Glen Lake or Lake Luzerne, let me know how you make out ....especially if you fishing for rainbows. For what its worth I did scout out Trout lake on Monday and talked with few guys who caught +/- 10 pickerel. I have no use for those fish. I would also say that there were many people on the ice. There mut be something good about that lake....

they also sell NYS atlas that has all the bodies of water on them. I find it very useful to get directions to places I wantta try and I also write down on each body of water that ive fished or heard about whats in there and the avg size youd expect to catch makes it easier to plan trips that way :)

Also try Moreau Lake off of exit 17. Has nice rainbows and big perch if you can find them.
