Thats just how he holds it. Where he was contacting it with his pinky is actually housing the spool sits in. Its also open water, and no gloves on.

BaitBucket - I'm with you. Obviously to each their own, we all have our own style and preference!

However, this is fine when its 50 degrees out and my hands are warm and exposed. When its -10 and I'm in thick gloves and can't 'feel' the spool, that's a non-starter for me personally. In my opinion deep water Ice Fishing inlines have a Free Spool button for a reason... It may not matter to others I suppose.

The Eagle Claw has a knob for adjusting freespool tension. Works great.
