Lake Carlton updates
« on: Dec 30, 2012, 06:59 PM »
Anybody been out to Lake Carlton yet? Just wonder if the ice is safe yet. I have never fished this lake but looking for some new ice to hit.

I've not been out there but jbird posted something under the reports section.

Slow action but 3.5-4" of ice.

I haven't breen out there in a couple days. Someone else on another site reported ice at 5". I'm gonna head there today and tomorrow. The guy who made the report had caught 25 gills and a couple perch.

I ice fished this lake along time ago when I was a little kid and don't remember a whole lot about it. I think we fished right when you drive in to the left over a steep hill with rocks maybe not sure? Is that where most people fish for gills and crappies? How deep of water are you guys catching them in?

Fished in front of the dock on the dam. Didn't catch a thing. Had a few follows but nothing. There were a few others the too. Dont know how they did. I'm gonna try the road bed tomorrow. There was 5" of clear ice. I know clear ice is stronger, but being able to see through the ice sure makes it look unsafe.

I know exactly what you mean I also think the fish can see you thru the clear ice. it would sure help to have some snow on the ice.
